Security image added to contact us form

Zdenko at the Croatian cricket club 'Hrvatski Sokol' informs me he's been receiving a fair bit of spam through his contact us form. This is usually due to auto-spam bots that troll the internet, looking for HTML forms. If your club website is getting targeted, take comfort in the fact that it's usually an indicator that your website is starting to get traffic. Sites that get no visitors usually attract no spambots either.

To filter out the spam bots, I've added a security image to the contact us form of all club websites. This means to successfully submit an enquiry, the user has to manually enter some randomly generated letters and numbers. Most spambots cannot do this so it greatly cuts down on any spam enquiries you might receive.

Header images now automatically resized

I noticed a few clubs ran into problems when they uploaded a header image (via the Layout Manager) that was too big. If an image is too large, it wreaks havoc with the website's layout and your web site loads slowly So I've updated the Layout Manager - if your header image is larger than 767 pixels wide or 300 pixels high, the image is automatically resized.

Beta-testing period ends in 4 days

Just a reminder to all the clubs who've signed up that the beta-testing period ends on March 31, in 4 days. To qualify for a whole free year for your club website, you just need to use the CriciWiki system (eg - jump into the Admin and try adding some players, matches or pages). Then go to our newly added Support Page (you need to be logged in) and submit any comments/feedback/suggestions you might have.

CriciWiki launches!

Welcome to the newly launched CriciWiki! For the month of March, we're in beta-testing mode. Anyone who signs up as a beta-tester by March 31 will get one free year for your club website. All you have to do is: That's it. I'm keen to test drive the system under a range of different club setups. So if you're a member of a cricket club and would like a website for your club, sign up (it only takes a minute to set up your site). Look forward to your feedback!
